If you are planning a visit to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico, you must include Xcaret in your itinerary. This eco-archaeological park is a true treasure in the heart of the jungle and offers an unforgettable experience for those looking for a unique mix of adventure, culture, and nature. In this blog, I will share my experience visiting Xcaret and provide some useful information to help you plan your own visit.
Where is it and how to get there?
Xcaret is located in the Riviera Maya, about 75 kilometers south of Cancun and 6 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen. You can see the location on our map of activities and attractions that I share in the following link. I recommend renting a vehicle for a more comfortable journey; a good option is Drivey. You can also get there by taking a taxi or using the transportation service offered by Xcaret. Additionally, many travel agencies and hotels in the area also offer excursions to Xcaret as part of their tour packages. I recommend checking a bit of history about the agency beforehand to avoid scams and bad experiences.
How much does it cost?
The entrance prices to Xcaret vary depending on the season and the type of ticket you choose. In general, adult prices range from $99 to $129 USD, while tickets for children aged 5 to 11 usually cost around $49 to $65 USD. Children under 5 enter for free. Xcaret offers various entrance options, which may include meals and specific activities, so I recommend visiting their official website to know the most updated prices and available options.

The best days to visit the park?
Xcaret is a very popular park and receives many visitors throughout the year. To avoid crowds, I recommend visiting the park during the weekdays, as weekends tend to be busier. Additionally, holiday periods and festivities, such as Easter and Christmas, usually have higher attendance. Plan your visit during the low season or on days with fewer crowds if you prefer a quieter experience.

What season is best to visit Xcaret?
The Riviera Maya has a tropical climate year-round, so you can visit Xcaret in any season. However, the rainy season runs from June to November, so you might want to avoid these months if you prefer a drier climate. The high tourist season is usually from December to April, with pleasant temperatures and less rain, making it a good time to visit.
What other parks to visit?
Besides Xcaret, the Riviera Maya has other theme and adventure parks that are also worth exploring. Some of the most popular include:
How to prepare for a trip to Xcaret?
They say a prepared person is worth two, and this time is no exception. Here are some quick tips that particularly helped me during my stay:
Sunscreen: The sun in the Riviera Maya can be very intense, so make sure to bring sunscreen and apply it regularly.
Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes and a swimsuit if you plan to enjoy the water activities.
Appropriate Footwear: Bring comfortable shoes for swimming in the river, as they will also be useful if you plan to explore the jungle.
Camera: Don’t forget your camera to capture the beautiful landscapes and wildlife in Xcaret..
Xcaret is a jewel of the Riviera Maya that combines natural beauty, culture, and adventure in one place. Whether you are attracted to the crystal-clear waters of the cenotes, the history of Mexico, or the exciting water activities, this park has something for everyone. Enjoy your visit to Xcaret and create unforgettable memories in this corner of Mexican paradise!

Conclusion
In my personal opinion, if you are looking to spend some restful and relaxing time with your family, Xcaret is undoubtedly a good option. On the other hand, if you travel with a group looking for adventure and more adrenaline-pumping experiences, there are other options within the Riviera that will surely exceed your expectations.
It's not necessary to arrive super early; in fact, many attractions have an additional cost, which makes spending inside the park higher than expected.
The food and the evening show are wonderful... you can see the time invested in building the entire Mexican experience in a presentation of about two and a half hours. The presentation is loaded with dance, music, acting, and narrates the history of the Spanish conquest to the development of what we now know as Mexico. This is undoubtedly the cherry on top and an activity worth spending a bit more on.
